Today's J. Post cartoon

in every generation they rise against us to annihilate us but the lord rescues us from their hands pyramids babylonian statue greek temple colosseum hooded monk holding torch double headed eagle dead nazi hung on gallows flag burning downed fighter jet mahmoud ahmadinejad holding device with big red button
Bracketed by a quote from the Hagaddah are symbols of past enemies of the Jewish people that are defeated and/or no longer extant: ancient Egypt, Babylon, Hellenstic Greece, the Roman Empire, the Crusaders, the Inquisition, Czarist Russia, Nazi Germany, the surrounding Arab countries(represented by a Syrian fighter jet). Oh yeah, and Mahmoud Ahmadenijad. Hey, guess what Mahmoud? You're next...
The above appeared without the bottom half of the quote for some reason.
On the side by my signature is Chag Same'ach ("Happy Holiday") in Hebrew, and Happy Holiday to all my readers as well, as this blog is shutting down for the duration of Pesach ("Passover" for all ya gentiles) due to religious constraints. Bye!

Ripped From the Archives: September 2008

In contrast to the last few entries in this series, all of the following submissions made it to print.

richard nixon ewhud olmert i am not a crook v sign fingers
At the time of drawing, Ehud Olmert was loudly proclaiming his innocence as accusations of illegalities began sprouting like mushrooms around him; later, he became the first Israeli Prime Minister to be criminally indicted.

three stooges shaul mofaz tzipi livni ehud olmert kadima party punching in head
As Olmert prepared to step down, Tzipi Livni and Shaul Mofaz vied for party leadership. The relationship was, shall we says, fractious.

israeli idf soldiers putting palestinian terrorists in jail ehud olmert letting them out opening door on other side
In the latest iteration of the government's "revolving door" policy, 199 Palestinian prisoners--some with blood on their hands--were released as a "goodwill gesture".

Where's Waldo?: The Movie

After the Carmen Sandiego poster, it was a short hop of the imagination and a shorter use of computer time & mad skillz to create one for the equally slippery Waldo. I'm particularly pleased with the "focusing" effect, which I discovered by accident trying to match up identical (except for size) layers. I also continued in my quest to have as much fun as possible with fake movie credits.
You could also imagine my surprise when I found out that there is, indeed, a Waldo movie in the works; I appropriated the real-life makers for the credits as well.

Today's J. Post cartoon

There's a whole big hullabaloo being made now by the US over the fact Israel is daring to continue building in east Jerusalem, specifically, the decades-old Jewish neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo. Relations between the two countries are at an ebb, but with friends like these, who are the enemies? ...Or something like that.

All these ended up being unpublished.

insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results albert einstein avigdor lieberman perhaps its time for a different approach peace now kadima labor livni barak sacrilege banging heads against a wall oslo hebron wye camp david annapolis
Part of the Israeli's left's annoyance (to put it mildly) with newly appointed Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman was his assertion that maybe, just perhaps, it was time for the Palestinians to make concessions toward us instead of the other way around. The wall the leftists are banging their heads against is marked with past failed "peace" agreements achieved in that manner.

The 2009 UN World Conference Against Racism, or Durban II, probably reached its low point with the hate-filled speech of notable racist Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President of Iran. The conference by that point had been boycotted by many Western democracies.

Desperate for a third cartoon to fill my monthly quota, this was the best I could come up with. Ol' Sam Coleridge must be turning in his grave.

Today's J. Post cartoon

Although nothing's official, the general assumption is that the recent assassination of senior Hamas member Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was carried out by the Mossad. This does, however, raise some interesting questions--why go to Dubai to do it? Why take 26 (and counting) people along? And why would two of them supposedly afterwards flee to Iran? With that in mind, I came up with the above reductio ad absurdum scenario, spicing up the background of the Dubai police HQ with Pac-Man and Waldo in the bargain.
