At the time of drawing, Ehud Olmert was loudly proclaiming his innocence as accusations of illegalities began sprouting like mushrooms around him; later, he became the first Israeli Prime Minister to be criminally indicted.
As Olmert prepared to step down, Tzipi Livni and Shaul Mofaz vied for party leadership. The relationship was, shall we says, fractious.
In the latest iteration of the government's "revolving door" policy, 199 Palestinian prisoners--some with blood on their hands--were released as a "goodwill gesture".
